Respect in Sport (RiS) / Speak Out!
2010-06-22
PREVENTION SERVICES - ALLIANCE Hockey has joined in the National initiative to implement the Respect in Sport educational tool. Certification through Respect
In Sport will be the equivalent to certification received when taking a Speak Out/Prevention Services Clinic.Due to a motion at the Alliance AGM, Speak out clinics will no longer be offered. Hockey Canada with regards to Preventions Services is offering an alternate to Speakout with the new online “Respect in Sports" program.
The new program is taken by the participant, who registers for the course, pays for the course with their credit card, then completes the course in a 30 day period. Once completed, the participant can print off their certificate as proof of completion; their name is entered automatically into the data base once completed.
All volunteers, who DO NOT already have Speak Out, will have to complete the online "Respect in Sports", this includes anyone who does NOT have Speakout and is taking a D-1, Coach Stream, or Trainers clinic.
The course is available as of now; therefore anyone needing it to accompany a Coaching Clinic or a Trainers Clinic can register and complete the course at their convenience before the season even starts. You will not be fully certified and rostered until all components of certification are completed and in the Hockey Canada Registry.
